These courses are mainly for postgraduate and Honours students on an individual guidance basis.  Students may choose any relevant reading materials to their thesis and read them through with an instructor.  When there are a few students in class, the same reading materials may be chosen by them to read together in one class per week.  All classes are entirely conducted in Japanese.

Learning Outcomes

The course draws on pre-modern, modern or contemporary materials, as appropriate, with a view to developing students' research and bibliographic skills in advanced studies in the humanities and social sciences.

Indicative Assessment

Flexible Individual Project (30%), Mid-term take-home report (35%); final take-home report (35%).

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. While the use of Turnitin is not mandatory, the ANU highly recommends Turnitin is used by both teaching staff and students. For additional information regarding Turnitin please visit the ANU Online website.
