Scholarships
ANU offers a wide range of scholarships to students to assist with the cost of their studies.
Eligibility to apply for ANU scholarships varies depending on the specifics of the scholarship and can be categorised by the type of student you are. Specific scholarship application process information is included in the relevant scholarship listing.
For further information see the Scholarships website.
In disciplines as diverse as biology, economics, actuarial studies, psychology, physics, archaeology, medicine and information technology, there is always a need for qualified statisticians to make proper sense of the data. The Master of Statistics program will enable you to specialise in any of a large number of areas, as well as receive rigorous training in core statistical application and theory. This will set you up as a professional statistician whose services will be highly sought-after. With an ANU Master of Statistics you will excel in your career literally anywhere is the world.
Career Options
ANU provides you with more choice for your entrance score by offering the new Flexible Double Degree program.
The ANU Flexible Double Degree lets you build skills for your chosen career without forfeiting your passion. It's your choice to build a double degree partnership that suits your head and your heart.http://students.anu.edu.au/applications/
NEW program - available for applications commencing from Summer Session, 2015
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate statistical computing skills for use in quantitative and data-based problem solving.
- Understand and be able to apply the processes and applications of: multiple linear regression, survey design; mathematical statistics, stochastic modelling, generalised linear modelling techniques; the principles of data representation, summarisation and presentation; multivariate statistical techniques; and, the role and notion of both parametric and non-parametric statistics.
- Analyse complex problems by running and interpreting time series models involving dynamic volatility and/or trends.
- Analyse and interpret data in various contexts using appropriate methodology.
- Work independently and collaboratively to collect, process, interpret and communicate the outcomes of fundamental research questions in applied statistics.
Further Information
For Domestic Students applying through UAC: If you have completed an overseas qualification, please send a scanned copy of your original testamur (graduation certificate) and academic transcript through to info.cbe@anu.edu.au. Academic Advice
Before applying for any credit or exemption towards the
program, students (except the ANU students) should include details of the ANU courses for which they seek for status on the form: http://www.anu.edu.au/sites/www.gaia-web1.anu.edu.au/files/resource/application-for-course-credit-st... They also are required to attach with the course outlines of their previous studies, or assessment of
their qualification completed by any relevant professional bodies.
It is advisable that students discuss their course selection with the Program Convener, Dr Bronwen Whiting (Bronwen.whiting@anu.edu.au). Please ensure you take a copy of your academic transcript with you when you meet with Dr Whiting. She will available during the O week in her office (Room 4.31, Building 26C):
