Basic, descriptive and field epidemiology, analytic epidemiology, public health surveillance, biostatistics, public health communication, computer technology and information systems, research methods and evaluation techniques, Indigenous health, environmental health, health economics, social determinants of health. In addition, each candidate will be required to present the results of an investigation to fellow candidates and NCEPH academic staff and, in the second year, to participate as an instructor in an epidemiological training course.

Indicative Assessment

An ongoing, regularly scheduled assessment of the candidate's work. Epidemiology exam in Semester 2 of first year. At the end of each of three semesters, the course is deemed to have been completed satisfactorily and a 'continuing unit' recorded. At the end of the fourth semester the result is either 'Course Requirement Satisfied' or 'Fail'.

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. While the use of Turnitin is not mandatory, the ANU highly recommends Turnitin is used by both teaching staff and students. Workload

Up to four weeks full time, once per semester. Attendance at intensive residentials is mandatory and only in exceptional circumstances, and with the approval of the Delegated Authority, will absence be permitted. Each candidate will be required, during the course, to attend one residential in each of four semesters at NCEPH.

Requisite and Incompatibility

To enrol in this course you must have successfully completed or be currently studying POPH8311 and POPH8399
