ANU Leadership and Research Minor

This minor integrates the University's flagship Vice-Chancellor's Courses into an unparalleled experience in leadership and research education.

The Vice-Chancellor's Courses epitomise what is different about ANU.

They involve active discovery and research. They are courses that are inherently interdisciplinary in terms of content, speakers, and the students enrolled in them. ANU researchers and alumni bring together knowledge, cutting-edge research, and leading professional practice to provide students with multiple perspectives on contemporary issues and future challenges. Through innovative teaching methods, students are required to be active learners and create convincing and insightful arguments based on evidence. The Vice-Chancellor's courses are for highly motivated students who will become leaders in their chosen fields.

Learning Outcomes

Students who complete this minor will have the skills and knowledge to:
  1. Apply a wide repertoire of high-level leadership skills in a range of contexts including formal and informal settings and face-to-face and online environments
  2. Communicate complex ideas effectively to a diverse variety of disciplinary backgrounds in a range of contexts
  3. Analyse critically the nature of knowledge, academic research, and how different disciplines and cultures construct knowledge
  4. Negotiate, identify and articulate societal issues and problems so that they become expressed in forms that can benefit from the application of research
  5. Adapt and apply multiple methodologies in order to holistically analyse and unravel complex issues
  6. Deploy methods for integrating research across disciplinary boundaries, evaluating research-based interventions, and contributions that address societal problems, through a deep understanding of the characteristics of research
