Program Requirements

The Master of Asian and Pacific Studies requires the completion of 96 units, which must consist of:

12 units from completion of the following social science skills training courses:

Admission Requirements

Admission requires a Bachelor Degree or international equivalent with a GPA of at least 5.0/7.0

Applicants who have completed a Bachelor Degree in a cognate discipline or Graduate Certificate in a cognate discipline may be eligible for 24 units (one semester) of credit.

Applicants who have completed an Honours degree in a cognate discipline or a Graduate Diploma in a cognate discipline may be eligible for 48 units (on year) of credit.

The Master of Asian and Pacific Studies will provide you with the regional grounding and research expertise you need to graduate as a leader of the Asian Century. The program provides a broad variety of courses with an Asian and Pacific focus and allows students to follow individual areas of specialisation in specific areas of the Asian and Pacific regions or in disciplines drawing on regional case studies. In this program you will be taught by some of the most eminent scholars of Asia and the Pacific in the world.

Upon successful completion, students will have the skills and knowledge to:

  1. Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of the cultures, societies, politics, environments and histories of the Asian and Pacific regions
     
  2. Understand and apply advanced analytical tools and methods to conduct independent research on Asian and the Pacific
     
  3. Demonstrate advanced written and verbal communication skills
     
  4. Communicate findings in academic and practical contexts, justifying approaches and methods, individually and in groups
