This course involves an exploration of the ways photography, film and digital visual culture have influenced approaches to painting technically, formally and conceptually since the invention of photography in the nineteenth century. This studio course is supported by lectures, seminars and discussion focused on the wide range of ways in which the mediation of visual experience by these technologies has been explored in painting. Higher-level skills, concepts, techniques, processes are developed in this process. Occupational health and safety instruction is an integral part of this course.
