Material Integration and Context refers to sculpture that combines traditionally distinct media within a single work. Students will exploit how different materials or the 'look' of different materials can carry meaning and value within sculpture. Students will consider 'real' and 'fake' materiality and how this can heighten and define form in regard to concepts explored. Students will be introduced to advanced use of tools and equipment and processes. Students will keep visual and techical diaries and studio theory aims to develop critical and evaluative skills to interpret and understand artworks within a contemporary and historical context. Occupational health and safety instruction is integral to the course.
