Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:
By the end of the semester, the successful learner of the course will be expected:
(i) To have good basic knowledge of the system of the Japanese language;
(ii) To be able to produce and comprehend various types of simple sentences/ expressions;
(iii) To be able to communicate in Japanese in situations involving the day-to-day life and some limited topics;
(iv) To obtain basic knowledge of Japanese culture and people; and
(v) To have good self-study skills of the Japanese language.
Indicative Assessment
Class quizzes ((30%), oral tests (50%), Language Laboratory test (15%) and class performance (5%). Graduate students attend joint classes with undergraduates but may expect more rigorous assessment and additional assignment work, tailored to the graduate students’ interests.
The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. While the use of Turnitin is not mandatory, the ANU highly recommends Turnitin is used by both teaching staff and students.
