Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:- Express ideas through the production of original texts (Assessment 1 & 3)
- Analyse and use information from spoken and written texts to inform oral and written discussions. (All assessments)
- Read with fluency in order to extract and use information and ideas from those texts to inform student’s points of view in oral discussions and written tasks. (Assessments 2 & 3)
- Listen to broadcasted current affairs related to the Spanish-speaking world and demonstrate comprehension via identification of finer details such as topics, locations, times and impact. (Assessments 1 & 2)
- Apply oral skills such as pronunciation, intonation, tone and clarity in real speaking situations. (Assessments 2 & 3)
- Select a range of vocabulary and grammar forms and apply them in written contexts. Write texts using the appropriate or consistent tense, spelling and topical vocabulary (Assessment 3).
Indicative Assessment
- Two summarising term tests (35%)
- Tutorial work, including:
- two oral presentations, (30%)
- class performance and participation (5%)
- Scripting and performing a radio program (30%)
The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. While the use of Turnitin is not mandatory, the ANU highly recommends Turnitin is used by both teaching staff and students.
