This course requires each student to develop and undertake an individual project that deals with human interface with the near environment and/or broadly interpreted investigations involving furniture and domestic objects. Independent exploration of relevant concepts, approaches, and works consolidates each student's knowledge of the contextual framework for their furniture project; critical reflection is further developed through discussion with staff and peers. This course allows use of alternative materials and interdisciplinary collaborations. Students will develop, complete and exhibit the finished outcomes of their proposals at the end of the semester. Occupational health and safety instruction is an integral part of this course.
