This course acts as an introduction to the main content of the field of population studies and to the major theoretical considerations. An emphasis is placed on current population issues in both developed and less developed countries. The course is intended primarily for students taking the Graduate Certificate or Master of Social Research but is open to students of any graduate program of the University.

Indicative Assessment
Students will be assessed by three 1500-word essays, with each essay accounting for 30% of the final mark. Attendance and performance in tutorials accounts for 10% of the final mark.
The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. While the use of Turnitin is not mandatory, the ANU highly recommends Turnitin is used by both teaching staff and students.
