This course fosters advanced skills in kiln forming and advanced cold forming for Design Arts students. Assisted by technical demonstrations and hands on courses, students develop Design-based, set and self-directed projects through individual exploration of concepts and techniques. This course addresses design applications through repeatable moulds techniques, production management and professional practice knowledge. The aim is to experiment and develop innovative platforms for design thinking and making. Lectures and group discussions extend students knowledge of themes and issues within design practice and assist build the ability to analyse and critique their own work and working methods. Occupational health and safety instruction is integrated throughout the syllabus.

Indicative Assessment
Portfolio of studio work (80%) [LO 1, 2, 3]and Journal/Documentation/Studio Theory presentation (20%) [LO 2, 4].
Feedback on work in progress is provided during class and at mid semester review session. Final assessment will be based on presented completed works, journals, tests and models.
