Students will be introduced to ceramic materials & various hand building techniques. With an emphasis on using different clay bodies and how they will be explored through referencing both historical & contemporary ceramics.
A range of techniques exploring surface treatments will be used. Occupational health and safety instruction is an integral part of this course.

- Utilise skills relevant to Ceramics in response to Workshop projects
- Explore Ceramic material/s used in Workshop projects
- Recognise relationships between concept and process in Ceramics
- Identify historical and theoretical contexts relevant to Ceramic Workshop projects
of studio work and visual journal (80%) and Documentation(20%).
Assessment includes periodic critique and review sessionsthat
provide ongoing feedback on work in progress.
The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. Workload4 hours per week lectures, tutorials, critiques and supervised studio practice and 6 hours per week independent studio practice.
