This course introduces students to soft sculptural processes through pattern making and armature utalising sewing, knitting, crochet, simple construction and skinning with the aim of designing and making sculpture that can be reproduced by another person through developing clear instructions and patterns. Consideration will be given to wearable sculpture as well as non-functional form. Students will keep visual and technical diaries and studio theory aims to develop critical and evaluative skills to interpret and understand artworks within a contemporary and historical context. Occupational health and safety instruction is an integral part of the course.
