The Special Topic for 2015 is Comparative Corporate Governance.
This course provides a unique opportunity to learn from leading academics in Australia and the United States on comparative corporate governance. The course will commence with a discussion of global developments in corporate governance and trends towards harmonisation, and then examine Australian and US laws on: board structure, directors’ duties, shareholder rights, derivative action and continuous disclosure requirements. Students will also have an opportunity to do a group presentation on areas including corporate social responsibility (CSR), alternative models of corporate governance (including German, South East Asian, Chinese and Islamic) and accounting requirements.
This course will be taught by Dr Kath Hall and visiting Professor Milton Regan from Georgetown University. Professor Milton Regan is a world-recognised expert in Corporate Governance and will be teaching the comparative (US) aspect of this course.
The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. While the use of Turnitin is not mandatory, the ANU highly recommends Turnitin is used by both teaching staff and students. For additional information regarding Turnitin please visit the ANU Online website.
