This course is intended to introduce students to a current area of interest in Algebra and Topology. The specific topic covered will be determined by the interests and availability of staff.

Note: Graduate students attend joint classes with undergraduates but are assessed separately.

1. Explain the fundamental concepts of a special topic in algebra and topology
2. Demonstrate accurate and efficient use of specific algebraic and topological techniques
3. Demonstrate capacity for mathematical reasoning through analysing, proving and explaining concepts from algebra and topology

Indicative Assessment

Assessment will be based on:

  • 3 assignments (10% each; LO 1-3)
  • Final examination (70%; LO 1-3)
