Building on MUSI8007 Graduate Music Professional Practice Project 1, through the addition of a specific focus on leadership, this course provides a program tailored to a graduate student's specific area of interest, designed to develop particular academic and leadership skills to underpin practical outcomes such as performances, festivals, exhibitions, etc. It may include developing and managing an extended performance or composition project, a community outreach project, pedagogy, or action research in a professional experience context in an outside organisation. The course enables students to gain professional-level experience through engaging in supervised activities and performances in a range of music and music-industry activities which may involve working with a professional ensemble, group or event; but may also involve working at a National Cultural Institution, working in an arts management placement, or participation in a festival.

Indicative Assessment
Assessment will be:
• a practice/research journal of the project, 2500 words, that focuses on the leadership elements of the project 30% [LO1-3] and
• one or more creative/professional applied research outcomes that are developed specifically to fit each project, 70%. The agreed criteria weighting will be documented in an individual learning contract. [LO1-4]

2. Development of a series of lessons plans for a particular learning environment (30%).
3. Participation as participant/observer and qualitative analysis of one case, or group of cases within the target group (40%).

Workload
130 hours, including 13 hours contact with the academic supervisor. The nature of the other 117 hours will vary widely depending on the nature of the project; for example, internships will involve much of this time working with body with which the internship is based, resulting in little flexibility. Other projects may involve significant private rehearsal time.
