This course introduces specialized fine glass casting process used by New Zealand based Caster Evelyn Dunstan. Advanced wax forming techniques with the application of commercial mould materials allow for high resolution and details in kiln casting processes. Set projects will introduce thematic ideas and are aimed at developing student’s ability to reflect and integrate concepts with material and process investigations. Lectures and group discussions assist students locate their experimental methods within the broader field of crafts, design and visual arts practice. Occupational health and safety instruction is integrated throughout the syllabus.

Feedback on work in progress is provided during class, and over the course of a group critique session. The final body of work will be assessed at the end of semester, based on presented completed works, journals, tests and models.
