In this course students build upon existing skills in animation and video, it introduces new skills and technologies in compositing, and 2D and 3D animation to enable students to independently develop, in response to set projects, integrated works in animation, or a hybrid with video. A studio theory component encourages students to critically engage with contextual and theoretical knowledge and incorporate this into their individual projects. Occupational health and safety instruction is an integral part of this course.

  3. Independently and collaboratively experiment with the application of concepts and processes in response to a professional brief in relation to 3D and 2D animation
  4. Critically engage with historical and theoretical contexts in relation to 3D and 2D animation

Indicative Assessment

Portfolio of studio work (80%) [Learning Outcomes 1 - 4]

Journal/Documentation/Studio Theory presentation (20%). [Equivalent to approx. 2000 words] [Learning Outcomes 2 - 4]

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. Workload

4 hours per week lectures, tutorials, critiques and supervised studio practice and 6 hours per week independent studio practice.

Requisite and Incompatibility

To enrol in this course you must be studying a Bachelor of visual arts degree and have successfully completed ARTV2609 and ARTV2610; or ARTV2106; or DART2100 and DART2101; or ARTV2003. You are not able to enrol in this course if you have previously completed ARTV2107 and DART2102 and DART2103.
