This is an upper level course designed to introduce advanced students to a range of key writings in Chinese society. The course will provide training in the close reading of representative texts from differing periods of Chinese history
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:
Understanding of key concepts and issues in Chinese society; to integrate this theoretical and historical knowledge with empirical examples; learn to think critically; develop skills in synthesising and contextualising new information; develop skills to locate, analyse, evaluate and synthesise information from a wide variety of sources, both Western and Chinese; develop an ability to work in cooperative groups on key issues in this field of Chinese Studies and to communicate findings to others; to develop a life-long interest and intellectual curiousity in this area.
