This course focuses on the teaching of Japanese to English-speaking learners from the viewpoint of the linguistic and sociocultural content of Japanese language courses. The broad areas of sound, writing, grammar, vocabulary and discourse are surveyed from this perspective, with detailed consideration of specific topics and analysis of learner errors.

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

B: demonstrate an understanding of a variety of socio-cultural issues relevant to Japanese language teaching/learning;
C: develop information gathering, presentation and analytical skills;

E: develop the confidence and expertise to engage in Japanese at an advanced level.

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. To enrol in this course you must have previously completed JPNS2013 and JPNS2015 or be a native speaker of Japanese.
