A research paper of 12,000 - 16,000 words in length on an approved topic in Law, Governance and Development.

The topic must be approved by the LLM Program Director, Stream Convenor and the appointed supervisor in consultation. Please refer to the Graduate Research Unit Guidelines available from the LLM Program Coordinator for more information.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

By the end of the course the student will have undertaken a limited but systematic study of an issue in the law of the student's own choosing but within the area of Law, Governance and Development and presented the results of that study in a written form which is accessible to an interested, but not necessarily informed, legal reader. The student will also have developed legal research and writing skills

Indicative Assessment

A 15,000 research paper on a topic related to an area with the Law, Governance and Development specialisation.

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. While the use of Turnitin is not mandatory, the ANU highly recommends Turnitin is used by both teaching staff and students. Workload

A student will be required to devote approximately 20 hours a week.

Requisite and Incompatibility

To enrol in this course you must be studying a Master of Laws specialising in Law, Governance and Development (7300SLGD) or a Master of Law, Governance & Development (7317XMLGD) or a Master of Laws in Law, Governance & Development (NLLGD) and have a distinction average across 24 units of LLM courses.

You will need to contact the Law School to request a permission code to enrol in this course.
