The Graduate Certificate of Accounting requires the completion of 24 units, which must consist of:

Admission Requirements
A Bachelor degree or international equivalent with an average mark of at least 65%.
All applicants must meet the University’s English Language Admission Requirements for Students

The Graduate Certificate of Accounting suits students with various aspirations, including:
- Graduates with no background in accounting who can study concepts and techniques in accounting without the need to enrol in a full degree.
- Graduates with prior accounting studies who wish to develop more advanced skills and knowledge in accounting without enrolling in a full Masters program.
- Graduates with prior accounting studies who need up to four more courses to fully satisfy the admission requirements of the Australian professional accounting bodies.
The Certificate program is designed to articulate into a Masters program for students who wish to continue their advanced studies. Students may be able to transfer to the Master of Professional Accounting, Master of Accounting, or the Master of Commerce program.
The program is taught by research active academic staff. Students are exposed to professional and scholarly academic research in commerce, enhancing their academic and professional competence.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will have the skills and knowledge to:
- Exercise judgement under supervision to analyse and solve accounting problems in diverse contexts using social, ethical, economic, regulatory and global perspectives
- Integrate theoretical and technical accounting knowledge which includes a selection of issues in auditing and assurance, finance, economics, quantitative methods, information systems, commercial law, corporation law and taxation law, and with an understanding of issues in accounting development and accounting research
- Critically apply theoretical and technical accounting knowledge and skills to identify and review complex accounting problems
- Justify and communicate accounting advice and ideas in diverse collaborative contexts involving both accountants and non-accountants
- Seek and reflect on performance feedback to identify and action learning opportunities and self-improvements and initiate this process for others

Graduates with prior accounting studies who need up to four more courses to fully satisfy the admission requirements of CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, or the Institute of Public Accountants.

About this degree
In a Graduate Certificate in Accounting you must complete four courses (24 units).
Enrolment Status
Students who intend to pursue CPA or CA associate membership without any accounting background are recommended to apply for the Master of Accounting degree.
You are able to change your enrolment until the end of week 2 of each semester.
