This course will introduce students to the Burmese language, and provide them with beginner level communicative commands, with an emphasis on conversation in every day situations. Students will also begin to familiarise themselves with reading and writing Burmese script. 

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

2. give, request and understand simple directions about location
3. give and follow simple instructions
4. make simple transactions in shops, restaurants or other familiar situations
5. use simple communication strategies to ask for help with or repetition of unfamiliar words
6. read some short, basic information texts in Burmese

Indicative Assessment

1. In class participation - 10%

3.Mid term written test - 15%
4. Mid term oral test - 15%
5. Final oral test - 30%
6. Final written test - 25%

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. Requisite and Incompatibility

You cannot enrol in this course if you have already completed BURM1002.
