This course is designed to provide students with an extension of curriculum that will extend their learning into Advanced Jazz music that are currently not covered in the standard Music majors and minors in the year 11 and 12 ACT curriculum. International students are not able to enrol in this course. This course is aimed at students who have already obtained a high level of musicianship, are interested in extending their current musical education (in conjunction with their college) and are seriously considering pursuing music at a tertiary level.

Other Information
Students will be required to be enrolled in courses in their
home college or school. Whilst H courses are intended to provide challenging
extension experiences, students enrolled in H courses do not necessarily have
to be studying the same course in their home college. However, normally there
will be co-requisite home college courses. Any co-requisite home college
courses will be determined by the home college or school. To be offered a place
in the course students must be successful in auditions held in Nov/Dec of each
year. Students must achieve an overall passing grade in each unit before
continuing to the next unit.

Research Essay: 1500 words 20% (LO 1, 2, 6, 7, 8)
Performances: 40% (LO 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7)

Workload
Minor - 130 hours (2 units of 55 hours plus 20 hours associated practice and performance time) - ANU 6 units.Major - 260 hours (4 units of 55 hours plus 40 hours associated practice and performance time, or 3.5 units and associated practice and performance time equivalent to 260 hours) - ANU 12 units.
