This program builds on the previous program, VIET6102. It deals with the question of tense, usage of conjunctions and more complex particles. The context of language use covers comparisons, directions, distances and modes of transport, the human body and basic health terms. Attention is given to the social and cultural context of language use.

Attendance and class participation (10%), Weekly assignments (totaling 20%), Mid-term exam (30%), Final exam (30%), Minor project (10%). Graduate students attend joint classes with undergraduates but may expect more rigorous assessment and additional assignment work, tailored to the graduate students’ interests.
The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. While the use of Turnitin is not mandatory, the ANU highly recommends Turnitin is used by both teaching staff and students.
