This course is designed to introduce students to a range of skills and technologies including drypoint, mezzotint, aquatint, softground and hardground etching.  A range of conceptual and thematic aspects are addressed.

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of basic techniques, processes and equipment used in intaglio printing;
  2. Show the beginning of a creative exploration of materials;
  3. Show basic awareness of historical and theoretical contexts relevant to the course

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. Workload

4 hours per week lectures, tutorials, critiques and supervised studio practice and 6 hours per week independent studio practice.
