The Demography specialisation provides students with the tools and knowledge to understand and study population change. We focus on issues concerning both developed and developing nations and how population change interacts with, for example, changes in the family, health, ageing, environment and employment. We also provide the theories and methods to study the underlying drivers of population change, fertility, mortality and migration, as well as the importance of population composition by age, sex, geography and ethnicity. Demography is essential for planning and understanding societal differences and development.
Career Opportunities
The Demography specialisation will advance your career by providing the theory and methods for conducting demographic analysis in both government and industry. It also provides a solid foundation for undertaking PhD research.
