This readings course is designed for students wanting a deeper understanding of contemporary issues in auditing and assurance services. The course involves focused reading of research concerned with auditing and assurance services. This course is suitable for PhD and research masters students seeking research training and advanced knowledge of the current state of research practices in, and outcomes of, leading research concerned with auditing and assurance services.

The precise reading areas are set for the semester based upon student interest and instructor guidance.

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

1.     Demonstrate research skills in finding and assimilating previous research.

2.     Demonstrate a solid understanding of contemporary research practices and problems in selected areas of auditing research.

3.     Demonstrate a critical understanding of auditing research.

4.     Complete an original research projecting auditing that reflects and understanding of the research process and contemporary research practices.

Workload

Students taking this course are expected to commit at least 12 hours a week (including non-teaching weeks) to completing the work. This will include attending classes, course reading, research, writing and assignment work.
