This course introduces students to precise drawing and model making through a series of weekly projects. By applying freehand, technical and perspective drawing together with model making, students will develop an awareness of conventions of visual communication relevant for the Design Arts. We will explore a variety of materials and their properties applied to a range of processes relevant to two and three dimensional design and construction. These techniques aim to develop accuracy and constructive imagination. Discussion and critical appraisal will be important adjuncts to observation, concept and practice development. Occupational health and safety instruction is an integral part of this course.

Assessment includes periodic critique and review sessions that provide ongoing feedback on work in progress.
