This course consists of a series of modules dealing with advanced geophysical methods used to explore Earth. The course combines advanced theory in these areas with integrated case studies and applications related to current research topics. Typical topics covered in the course include Earth deformation, seismology, remote sensing of the Earth, structure and evolution of planetary interiors and satellite geodesy.

Understand advanced concepts in geophysics
- Evaluate data using different processing and enhancement techniques, and explain their application and limitations
Illustrate how advanced concepts in geophysics shape current research directions; and
Apply these concepts to their Masters research project.
Assessment will be based on:
• Theory exam (50% LO 1-3); and
• Practicals and/or assignments (50% LO 2-4).
The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. 3 hours of lectures and 2 hours of practicals per week. Students are expected to spend an average of a further 6 hours per week on work related to the course.
