This course is directed at those interested in pursuing advanced level research in a range of Humanities fields, in particular Linguistics, Languages and Cultures, and Literary studies. The course will provide hands-on experience in essential components of research: critically assessing and synthesising relevant literature; developing research questions; disseminating research though conference presentations and publishing; and the use of tools to help in this (such as advanced Word skills, bibliographic data base, etc.). By working on one project for the different pieces of assessment throughout the course, students will complete the course with a well developed research plan, which will prepare them well for writing a thesis or other substantial research project.
