The Graduate Diploma of International Affairs (GDIA) is designed to equip you with the skills required for understanding emerging issues in the international, political and strategic affairs, both globally and in Asia and the Pacific. Students will learn how to critically analyse international affairs and foreign policies through a diverse range of disciplines and explore how issues such as globalisation, development, democratisation, terrorism, human security, war and conflict drive political developments in the Asia Pacific region and around the world.
This flexible, 1-year (full-time) postgraduate qualification will allow you to advance your career in a wide range of professions such as:
- Diplomacy

- International business
The program provides a pathway for entry into ANU Masters programs in Diplomacy, International Relations or Strategic Studies and can be used as an exit qualification for students who are unable to complete their Masters degree but have completed the requisite 48 units of credit toward their postgraduate program. Students who are considering proceeding from this qualification into an approved Masters program should seek academic advice from the relevant program convener in order to ensure tht the courses taken during the Graduate Diploma are eligible for maximum credit (48 units) toward their chosen Masters degree.
