Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

  1. Read closely and understand a range of authors, major works and genres in several important fields of literary studies in English;
  2. Research and understand the diverse historical and cultural contexts in which literature has been written and shaped, and communicate that knowledge in a clear and engaging way in written and spoken forms;
  3. Analyse and critically evaluate the influence of a range of intellectual developments on the theory and practice of the discipline of literary studies; and
  4. Design and undertake with increasing independence a research project that synthesises original analysis with the use of critical approaches and scholarly debates to produce a sophisticated and extended argument.
