This course is the further written component of a one-year  beginners program in Standard Modern  Chinese.    

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

By the end of this course, students will have an active knowledge of a set of about 800 Chinese characters, and will have a sound working knowledge of the grammar of Modern Standard Chinese.

This is a co-taught course. Any cap on enrolments in one course applies to both courses combined.

Indicative Assessment

In-class performance (20%)

Weekly take-home writing exercises (20%)

Mid-semester examination (20%)

Final written examination (40%).

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. Requisite and Incompatibility

To enrol in this course you must have completed CHIN6013 or have been permitted entry based on the results of the Chinese language placement test. Incompatible with CHIN2023.
