Design students will learn new skills and techniques for designing large ceramic design based works. Focusing on designing for both wheel and hand building for the construction of large scale work that utilise concepts and processes for different design briefs. Students will undertake research into the history of large scale ceramic design work.
This course alternates over two years (even and odd years). Even years will explore wheel throwing skills and techniques. Odd years will explore hand building techniques. Occupational health and safety instruction is an integral part of this course.

- Work independently and/or collaboratively in a workshop environment in response to the design project demands.
- Reflect on social, ethical, cultural, technological and environmental issues of creative design considering local and international perspectives of Ceramic Design.

Assessment includes periodic critique and review sessions that provide ongoing feedback on work in progress.
