Students are required to complete the requirements of both degrees; to complete in three years students must choose 24 units of compulsory and/or core courses from degree B to satisfy the requirement for 24 units of free electives in program A.

Entry to these programs requires a successful assessment of a portfolio of works and other supporting material. Before applying, applicants should consult the ANU School of Art website where the requirements are listed and supporting material submission information is detailed.
Master of Music
• Applicants will be expected to have pre-existing musical knowledge such as a competency level equivalent to completion of an undergraduate major in music performance or music composition, or equivalent qualifications or experience.
• Entry to the Graduate Music Performance courses is by audition at an appropriate standard. Applicants wishing to enrol in Graduate Music Performance courses are advised to contact the School to arrange for an audition as soon as possible. E: schoolofmusic@anu.edu.au
• Entry to the Graduate Composition, Arranging and Sound Design courses is by submission of a portfolio of works of an appropriate standard. Applicants wishing to enrol in Graduate Composition, Arranging and Sound Design courses are advised to contact the ANU School of Music to arrange for assessment of the portfolio as soon as possible. The Flexible Double Master Degree gives enormous flexibility through being able to combine any two degrees available in the program for which the entry requirements are met and, by cross counting of electives, completing two degrees in one year less than completing the degrees separately. For students who are eligible for credit for previous degrees or work experience, the double degree may require as little as two years.
