The Juris Doctor (Online) requires the completion of 144 units, which must consist of:

A minimum of 12 units from completion of further 6000-level and 8000-level courses in the subject area LAWS Law
A maximum of 36 units from completion of 4000-level courses in the subject area LAWS Law
Admission Requirements
A Bachelor degree or international equivalent with a minimum GPA of 4.5/7.0
If applicants have more than one completed tertiary qualification, the GPA will be determined as the average of all tertiary qualifications. Applicants who have completed a law degree that leads to admission to practice in a ‘Common Law’ country, for example the UK, Ireland, India, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand and Canada, are not eligible for admission.

Assessment of qualifications
Unless otherwise indicated, ANU will accept all Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualifications or international equivalents that meet or exceed the published admission requirements of our programs, provided all other admission requirements are also met.
Where an applicant has more than one completed tertiary qualification, ANU will base assessment on the qualification that best meets the admission requirements for the program. Find out more about the Australian Qualifications Framework: www.aqf.edu.au
ANU uses a 7-point Grade Point Average (GPA) scale. All qualifications submitted for admission at ANU will be converted to this common scale, which will determine if an applicant meets our published admission requirements. For entry to the Juris Doctor - Online program: If an applicant has more than one completed tertiary qualification, ANU will calculate the GPA as the average of all tertiary qualifications completed.

Please note that this program is only available part-time. The fees listed below are the full-time equivalent. The cost per course in 2017 is $4560.

Designed for graduates of all disciplines, the ANU Juris Doctor Online (JDO) fulfils the academic requirements for admission to the Australian legal profession.
Students in the JDO will gain an advanced and integrated understanding of the Australian legal system, and its place in the wider world, through a unique Problem Based Learning approach that examines essential legal areas of knowledge in integrated ‘clusters’ of learning.
This degree is offered part-time, with three entry points each year. It comprises 12, compulsory sequenced courses, 7 elective courses, and a compulsory capstone project in the final year.

ENROLLING IN YOUR FIRST JDO COURSE
Once you have accepted your offer, you will be sent a password that will allow you to enrol and access a range of university systems. You will use ISIS – the ANU Interactive Student Information System – to enrol in your online courses.
Log in to ISIS using your University ID and password. Note that you should enrol in all the courses you wish to study during a calendar year.

LAST DAY TO ENROL AND CENSUS DATE
In 2017, JDO courses begin on 16 January (Summer), 8 May (Autumn) and 28 August (Winter).
To begin studying in January, you must enrol no later than Friday 13 January 2017.
To begin studying in May, you must enrol no later than Friday 5 May 2017.
To begin studying in August, you must enrol no later than Friday 25 August 2017.
Census is the last day to withdraw from a course without academic or financial penalty. You can find the Census date for a specific course by searching for it on Programs and Courses.

Wattle is your online campus – the learning environment where you’ll interact with fellow students and the teachers who’ll be supporting your study, and where you’ll find all the tools, texts and resources you need for online conferencing, discussions and debates, group work, and private study.
We contact all enrolled students when Wattle courses become available.
Use your University ID and password to log in to Wattle. Note that Wattle will ask for a ‘User Name’ – this is your University ID.

Capstone
The final compulsory course is LAWS8713 Law Capstone Project. Allowing you to undertake a substantial individual research project that addresses a complex problem of your choice, the course offers an exciting opportunity to bring together the knowledge you have gained through the ANU Juris Doctor Online.
