Students undertaking this course will pursue intensive Korean language study at an ANU partner institution in South Korea. This is a short-term in-country course where students will learn in South Korea. This course is offered for a range of Korean language proficiency levels and aims to provide: 1. introductory course to new language learners; 2. an opportunity for improvement for continuing language learners; 3. extended instruction for advanced language learners. Students enrolled in this course will not only have the opportunity to learn the language, but also to develop their awareness of the Korean culture and  society. Entry into this course is available through a competitive application process.

Indicative Assessment

  1. Students taking this course are required to attend all the classes and expected to participate in all the outside-class cultural activities, as well as successfully complete all the intensive course requirement at the host university in Korea. (null) [LO null]

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. While the use of Turnitin is not mandatory, the ANU highly recommends Turnitin is used by both teaching staff and students. Workload

This course is offered through intensive delivery in non-standard academic sessions. Students will receive an 'EE' result for this course and have credit allocated to their degree on successful completion of the study at the host institution. 
Students will be required to complete 75 class hours plus a minimum of 30 hours of extra curriculum cultural activities in three weeks at the ANU partner university in South Korea for a 6 unit course load. For a 12 unit course load this will be doubled.

Assumed Knowledge

No prior knowledge of Korean language is required for the students taking this course at beginners' level. For those who have studied Korean at ANU or elsewhere, they will be placed into different classes through placement test upon the arrival of students in Korea
