Program Requirements
The Executive Master of Public Administration requires the completion of 72 units, which must consist of:
42 units from completion of the following list of courses:

POGO8063 Designing Public Policies and Programs
POGO8064 Government in a Market Economy
POGO8065 Decision Making Under Uncertainty
POGO8066 Governing by the Rules
POGO8067 Leading Public Sector Change
POGO8123 Delivering Public Value
POGO8300 Managing Public Sector Organisations
12 units from completion of POGO8068 Work Based Research Project
18 units from completion of subjects from the Graduate School of Government list as provided by ANZSOG.

A Bachelor degree or international equivalent with at least five years’ relevant work experience.

Assessment of qualifications
Unless otherwise indicated, ANU will accept all Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualifications or international equivalents that meet or exceed the published admission requirements of our programs, provided all other admission requirements are also met.
Where an applicant has more than one completed tertiary qualification, ANU will base assessment on the qualification that best meets the admission requirements for the program. Find out more about the Australian Qualifications Framework: www.aqf.edu.au
ANU uses a 7-point Grade Point Average (GPA) scale. All qualifications submitted for admission at ANU will be converted to this common scale, which will determine if an applicant meets our published admission requirements. Unless otherwise indicated, where an applicant has more than one completed tertiary qualification, ANU will calculate the GPA for each qualification separately. ANU will base assessment on the best GPA of all completed tertiary qualifications of the same level or higher.
Applications for course credit
Applicants may be eligible for credit for admission for formal, informal and nonformal (which includes work experience) learning. Applications for credit for admission will be assessed by the Dean of the Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG) and the ANU Program Director and will consider the equivalence of extensive appropriate practical, professional or scholarly experience. Admission requires acceptance as a candidate by both ANU and ANZSOG.

The Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) is designed to assist future leaders develop the management and policy skills needed in today’s public sector.
Developed in consultation with public sector CEOs across Australia and New Zealand, the EMPA aims to produce world-class public sector managers. The program offers high-potential and aspiring leaders a thorough grounding in the theory and practice of public administration. The program brings together a select group of the best emerging public sector leaders from Australia and New Zealand with outstanding teachers and practitioners from around the world.
The EMPA is a multi-disciplinary, multi-modal degree of 11 subjects, with the core subjects taught by ANZSOG and the electives offered by the participating universities. Students will be high potential public servants nominated and funded by participating governments subject to university selection processes. They will enrol in and receive the degree from the ANU.
