This course enables students to gain credit for an international law internship which they have independently secured whilst enrolled in an LLM or JD Program. The course enables students to produce an academic paper on either the law of international organisations as applicable to the particular institution in which the internship is carried out or, as will more likely be the case, aspects of the international law with which the institution deals.
Students must secure their own internship as well as source an ANU College of Law academic - who specialises in international law - who is willing to supervise and mark the assessment tasks.
The Course Convenor has the discretion to accept or refuse a proposed internship for credit. In the exercise of this discretion, relevant factors include, but are not limited to, the length of the internship (which should generally be at least one month full time), the nature of the institution at which the internship is undertaken and the tasks allocated to the intern. Secondments or work carried out in the course of ordinary employment are not eligible for consideration.
In response to COVID-19: Please note that Semester 2 Class Summary information (available under the classes tab) is as up to date as possible. Changes to Class Summaries not captured by this publication will be available to enrolled students via Wattle.
The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. While the use of Turnitin is not mandatory, the ANU highly recommends Turnitin is used by both teaching staff and students. For additional information regarding Turnitin please visit the ANU Online website.
