96 units from completion of courses in the Bachelor of Global Liberal Arts at Ritsumeikan University.

Students must achieve a minimum GPA of 4.0 (on a 7.0 scale) following completion of 48 units of study to be eligible to continue in the dual degree.

Students who commence at ANU and do not meet this hurdle requirement will be transferred to the Bachelor of Asian Studies.

Students who commence at RU and do not meet this hurdle requirement will be transferred to the Bachelor of Global Liberal Arts (single degree).

Elective Study

Once you have met the program requirements of your degree, you may have enough electives to complete an additional elective major, minor or specialisation.

Study Options

Admission Requirements

1. An ATAR of 82 or an equivalent rank derived from an Australian Year 12 qualification or international equivalent
2. The ANU English Language Admission Requirements for admission into a Bachelor Degree program, as advertised by ANU at time of application

Adjustment Factors

ANU offers rank adjustments for a number of adjustment factors, including for high achievement in nationally strategic senior secondary subjects and for recognition of difficult circumstances that students face in their studies. Rank adjustments are applied to Bachelor degree applicants with an ATAR at or above 70. Points are awarded in accordance with the approved schedules, and no more than 15 points (maximum 5 subject/performance-based adjustments, maximum 10 equity-based adjustments and maximum 5 Elite Athlete adjustments) will be awarded. Please note that Adjustment Factors vary and do not apply to a select few programs,  please visit the ANU Adjustment Factors website for further information.

Scholarships

ANU offers a wide range of scholarships to students to assist with the cost of their studies.

Eligibility to apply for ANU scholarships varies depending on the specifics of the scholarship and can be categorised by the type of student you are.  Specific scholarship application process information is included in the relevant scholarship listing.

Learning Outcomes

1. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the historical and contemporary dimensions of politics and government, international relations and security, conflict and peacebuilding, and history and cultural identity in the Asia-Pacific region

2. Use concepts and methods from the social sciences and humanities to develop, review, analyse, and synthesise knowledge about the Asia-Pacific region and its roles in the world

3. Reflect critically on the principal factors that determine the major political, security, diplomatic, and historical issues in the Asia-Pacific region

4. Engage with the Asia-Pacific region’s diversity in meaningful ways

5. Critically apply theoretical frameworks and research techniques to understanding key issues in the Asia-Pacific region
