This course provides students with an opportunity to undertake an internship relating to their political, strategic or international relations studies in Asia Pacific Affairs. The course can be taken as a 6 to 24 unit variable, depending on the length and workload within the internship. Participants will work with an academic supervisor at ANU to identify learning outcomes as well as assessment requirements for their internship under the overall direction of the course convenor. The course will offer ongoing opportunities involving a competitive application and selection process each year, as well as one-off opportunities. All ongoing opportunities within this course will be outlined in the Other Information section.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

  1. Learning outcomes will vary, depending on the individual internship opportunity. However, learning outcomes will be developed by the academic supervisor as part of the approval process for each individual internship.

Indicative Assessment

  1. Students will work with academic supervisor to determine learning outcomes for their placement, as well as workload and assessment pieces. Although the requirements will vary depending on the length of the placement/workload, all participants are expected to undertake the following assessment: (null) [LO null]

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. While the use of Turnitin is not mandatory, the ANU highly recommends Turnitin is used by both teaching staff and students. Workload

This will vary depending on the unit value of the internship, however each participant will be expected to undertake the following tasks:
1) Institutional placement
2) Reflective journal
3) Research paper
4) Workplace/reflective presentation

To enrol in this course, you must have successfully completed 24 units of university courses.
