The Foundational Science minor provides fundamental studies in one or more disciplines of science. The minor allows students to complete any foundational courses required for the co-requisite major and can only be taken in conjunction with the majors listed below.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Apply conceptual knowledge of scientific principles and processes to a range of disciplinary and inter-disciplinary contexts.

  2. Critically assess and apply information in the chosen discipline(s)

  3. Explain how science is evidence-based involving observation, experimentation and hypothesis testing.

  4. Analyse and interpret experimental results using appropriate methods.

  5. Clearly communicate scientific processes and principles to a variety of audiences.

The Foundational Science minor requires the completion of 24 units of 1000 or 2000 level courses from the Science course list as defined by the co-requisite major. Where the major defines less than 24 units of courses, the remaining units of the minor can be made up of other 1000 or 2000 level courses from the Science course list.
