Applied Cybernetics Professional Experience Placement gives the student exposure to applying approaches and skills learned in CECS6001, CECS6002, and CECS8001 in a professional environment. Students will be embedded within an industry, community, government, start-up or academic organisation as a practitioner of Applied Cybernetics to contribute to a project related to cybernetic systems.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

  1. Provide direct insight into the professional practice of Applied Cybernetics
  2. Describe and interpret the main responsibilities of a practitioner of Applied Cybernetics
  3. Advocate for a cybernetics approach to systems as a practitioner of Applied Cybernetics
  4. Synthesise the main working modes of a practitioner of Applied Cybernetics, such as framing questions, analysing data, applying a systems-level approach, communication skills, and teamwork practices.

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. Workload

Students are expected to attend the professional practice placement for an equivalent of 7 hours per day for 20 days.
