Applied Cybernetics Professional Experience gives the student exposure to applying approaches and skills learned in CECS6001; CECS6002 and CECS8001 in a professional environment. Students will be embedded within an industry, community, government, start-up or academic organisation as a practitioner of the New Branch of Engineering to contribute to a project related to cyber-physical systems.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:
- Provide direct insight into professional practice of the new branch of engineering
- Describe and interpret the main responsibilities of a practitioner of the new branch of engineering
- Advocate for a cybernetics approach as a practitioner of the new branch of engineering
- Synthesise the main working modes of practitioner of the new branch of engineering, such as framing questions, analysing data, applying a systems-level approach, communication skills, and teamwork practices.

Workload
Students are expected to attend the professional practice placement for an equivalent of 35 hours per week for 4 weeks.
