This course is designed for Year 1 PhD students to prepare a research proposal, on the doctoral studies topic that they are developing as part of their program of study. Advanced doctoral research proposal development skills will be promoted in the course, from the identification of a research problem and key research questions, to establishing the evidence requirements needed to answer those questions, and establishing a set of methodologies for generating and analysing that evidence. Capacities for undertaking critical literature reviews and connecting research proposals to theory will be promoted. The conceptual development process initiated in Semester 1 in EMDV9008 Advanced Research Proposal can be further developed and refined as part of EMDV9066 Advanced Research Project in Semester 2. These courses facilate timely and effective progress for doctoral student, towards the required Thesis Proposal Review (TPR).
