In Sem 2 2022, this course is delivered on campus with adjustments for remote participation due to unavoidable COVID constraints.

This is an annual course (24 units) which requires students to conduct a substantial individual research project under academic supervision, with a formal thesis being submitted and presentation of a seminar.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

  1. Prepare and present a short technical seminar.
  2. Write a literature survey.
  3. Undertake and complete a research project under supervision.
  4. Write a thesis describing the results of research work.

Other Information

You also need to have a signed 'Independent Study contract' with a supervisor before the start of the semester in which you plan to start your project.

Requisite and Incompatibility

To enrol in this course you must be enrolled in the Master of Computing (Advanced) and have completed COMP6442, COMP8260 and COMP6445. You also need to have a signed 'Independent Study contract' with a supervisor before the start of the semester in which you plan to start your project.
