One of the requirements of the Doctor of Philosophy (Clinical Psychology) degree is the completion of an appropriate program of empirical research supervised by a panel of at least three supervisors including a member of staff of the Department of Psychology as a supervisor and a member of the Clinical faculty in the role of an advisor at least. This program of research will lead to the submission and examination of a substantial thesis. Students begin work on this research from the beginning of the first year of the program and are expected to submit the thesis by the end date of their enrolment in the degree. The Doctor of Philosophy (Clinical Psychology) thesis is intended to be similar in size and scope to a research only PhD thesis in psychology.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

Progress toward a thesis up to 100,000 words in length.

Indicative Assessment

Progress assessed by submission of Annual Reports and Thesis Proposal Review.

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. To enrol in this course you must be studying a Doctor of Philosophy, Clinical Psychology (9064) have successfully completed PSYC9432.
