This course is designed for Master students to undertake independent research in accounting. Students will conduct research in their chosen topic under the supervision of academic staff with relevant research interest. Students will be required to identify research problems, review and synthesize relevant literature, develop an appropriate research design, collect and analyse data (where relevant), and present their findings effectively in a written thesis.

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:
- Exercise judgement to identify, analyse and address emerging accounting problems
- Demonstrate advanced understanding in the chosen research area and the research method as it applies to accounting research
- Undertake independent accounting research
- Communicate research ideas and findings effectively

Workload
Students are expected to spend 10 hours per 6 units of enrolment per week on the course. This includes time spent on conducting research on the chosen topic, completing a Master’s and thesis writing, preparing for course hurdle requirements and meeting with their supervisor.
