Intermediate Turkish A (TURK2001)

This course continues on from Elementary Turkish B and corresponds to the B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. This course will further develop students' reading, writing, listening and speaking skills to equipe them to deal with most situations that may arise in a Turkish-speaking environment. Students will gain insights into Turkish society and culture through the study of a range of media. The students will be expected to complete online study modules weekly before attending the online live session.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

  1. utilise an intermediate standard of Turkish grammar across the four basic competencies (reading, writing, speaking and listening);
  2. reflect on knowledge about Turkish language using basic concepts of sociolinguistics;
  3. express their views and opinion about common cultural and societal themes;
  4. identify the main points of an authentic written or spoken text; and
  5. produce coherent and connected short texts about familiar topics.
